Pregnancy and Infant Loss Counseling
Miscarriage, pregnancy loss, infant loss – it is grief like no other. It’s feeling many things and nothing all at once.
As a bereaved mother myself, I know the many emotions and thoughts that can come after experiencing the loss, and the process it can take to journey through the pain.
In my compassionate approach, I want to help you move forward without forgetting.
Grief Counseling
Bereavement can be an incredibly painful, disruptive and confusing process. You might think you are “broken”. You might find yourself in a state of overwhelm or disbelief. You might discover that you are not able to manage all the daily stressors that you once could.
Whether it is due to a loss of a family member or friend, job, relationship or a sense of security, grief is complex.
So, where do you turn?
I would like to help you.
As we walk together through your mourning, I will help you to process various emotional, social, physical, and spiritual grief responses as you find direction.
Through compassionate guidance, I will help you develop meaningful coping strategies and the ability to look toward the future.
Postpartum Counseling
The truth is, having a baby can be a lonely, isolating and painful experience for many parents. You might feel like becoming a parent is not what you expected it to be. Your road to parenthood might have been filled with tremendous loss and trauma.
I am here to provide you with a safe and validating space to wrestle through all the challenges of having a new baby.
Together, we will work on improving your mood, helping you rid yourself of guilt and start enjoying the adventure that is parenting.
Counseling for Trauma
When painful events touch our lives, we can become hurt. When we are hurt, we tend to allow for negative believes to take root in our hearts. That in turn leads to unhealthy ways of relating to ourselves, others and God.
Whether your hurt came from a car accident or a bad break-up, whether it came from not getting enough love and attention as a child or being bullied at school, I would like to help you process all the aftereffects of that trauma.
In a unique blend of EMDR and talk therapy, I want to lead you to feeling safe, confident, and hopeful again.
Counseling for Parents of Young Children
I offer hope for frustrated parents.
Along with my degree in Early Childhood Education, and many years of experience working directly with children and families, I am able to guide parents through the struggles of raising young children.
Incorporating stages of development, attachment styles, learning styles, knowledge of temperaments and behaviors, I can work with you to find ways to better understand the struggles both for you as the parent and for what the child may need.
What to expect in a counseling session with me as your therapist?
My style is warm, supportive, and interactive. The most important part of counseling is our trusted relationship. If you feel heard and safe in our sessions, you will do great work in therapy.
I offer supportive listening and validation, as well as practical guidance. You will be encouraged to do homework in between sessions to bring about that change you desire sooner than later.
I know you already have many strengths and we will draw on what you are already doing in life to be successful.
And as positive changes are made, we will celebrate your achievements and accomplishments!
Why choose me as your therapist?
My desire is to offer genuine care to help people take steps toward healing and transformation. I believe that we can always change and grow.
As a lifelong learner of the craft of therapy, I continue to be updated on the latest science and helpful approaches to therapy. I am trained in some of the most effective and well-research approaches in the counseling field:
- EMDR therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
- CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)
- ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy)
- Attachment therapy and Interpersonal Neurobiology
- Certification – MommaCare – Pregnancy and Infant Loss
- Certification – Advanced Grief Counseling Specialist
I am also always working on myself, my own internal life for greater emotional, mental, spiritual, and physical health.
When I’m not doing therapy…
I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter. My family is one of my greatest gifts from God and we love being together.
When I want to have some time for myself, I enjoy a quality cup of coffee, reading a good fiction book, learning new things, exercising, gardening, and enjoying whatever sunshine I can find.
